We had the fortune to try out the Node and I was really impressed with the design. It is true that the desk will accommodate a laptop and even an additional notepad. The design of the arm for the desk allows for movement across two planes (think of the flexibility incorporated in steering wheels).

I like the concept of the laptop holding base, but can imagine that students will continue to place their bag next to their seat. If an instructor has the class move around or if the chairs are used in a flexible space, students will be more likely to use that particular function.

All in all, the Node should be considered as an option for classroom and flexible study space.
